Heather Basten, casting director extraordinaire joins Ecstasy

Wed 4th Dec 2019, 15:07
We're 114% funded with 3 days left AND we've had 209 amazing backers support us so far. We're excited to have each and everyone of you along for the ride. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Over the next 72 hours we're trying to reach our £10k target which equates to 120% but I'm not going to lie last night I had a dream that we hit 200% and broke even more records. I cried, it was magnificent. But either way we're making a movie and this leads me on to some exciting developments...

We're excited to announce that Heather Basten, casting director extraordinaire is joining team 'Ecstasy'. And this is fantastic news. We have big ambitions for the film and in a dream world we'll fill all the roles we have with the most talented people we can get. Heather is a key part of this process and her track record speaks for itself...

Heather Basten began in the industry at the British Film Institute. She then moved into casting for Film and TV. She's cast for notable directors such as Rob Savage, Ana Rocha De Sousa and Charlotte Regan.

Past productions include Fox TV, Delaval Films, Sky Arts and DMC Films, as well as having films screened at Sundance and the BFI London Film Festival.

Her work spans from working alongside Jeremy Zimmermann (Hellboy), and went to be casting assistant on NBC’s ‘A.D’. She moved on as casting assistant to Dixie Chassay (The Favourite), and then resided with Des Hamilton (Top Boy, This Is England) where she assisted Lara Manwaring on BAFTA-winning TV Feature ‘Ellen’, as well as part of the NYC street casting team for 'White Boy Rick'.    Past casting associate works include Netflix’s ‘The End of the F***king world’ and THE LIGHTHOUSE starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe.    Current films due for release in the near future include interactive feature film, 'The Complex' starring Kate Dickie and Michelle Mylett, and upcoming Portuguese/London co-produced feature film 'Listen' starring Lucia Moniz.

Not a bad list of credentials. It's because of the momentum we've generated with our campaign and YOU that we have been able to get such talented people involved in our film. Since the crowdfund has started we've had huge actors support us online and my inbox has been littered with heartfelt pleas to work with us. I've had a special effects whizz from the Marvel films, sound recordists, theatre producers and so many more talents show interest. Our journey is only just beginning. If you are able to, please share our project with your friends and family. Personal pleas for help do work and the more we raise the better we can make our film and the more we can donate to Parkinson's research. You can copy and paste the below if need be. Thanks! Grant and team

Hey,

You may or may not be aware but recently I've been part of a crowdfunding campaign for an upcoming short film called Ecstasy, which will tell a story about living with Parkinson’s disease in a positive and upbeat light.

Ecstasy is a comedy about a disabled father and his son's quest to buy drugs so the Dad can dance with his wife at her birthday party. What could possibly go wrong? And it's based upon the real life revelation that ecstasy can temporarily cure people living with Parkinson’s

The writer and director Grant is making this movie as his father, Bob has had Parkinson's disease for over 20 years and he has put a whole crowdfunding campaign together to raise money for the budget, AND a percentage of that will go to charity. https://greenlit.fund/project/ecstasy

Now for the amazing bit... We've just found out that all the money that will be donated will get doubled as a result of the BIG GIVE campaign but TIME IS RUNNING OUT. He's raised over £9.5k so far with £635 of that for charity, and that will get doubled to £1270. But we're trying to raise as much as possible and we have 3 DAYS LEFT.

The whole project is amazing, he’s got some very talented people on board; actors from the ITV show Benidorm and the music supervisors of Kevin and Perry go large! According to Grant the film will make you laugh, cry and rave in your seat! So if you want to see an amazing film next year and support Parkinson's disease research all at once then you can here: https://greenlit.fund/project/ecstasy
